Military Service Wall Memorial

The Crivitz School District is in the planning stages of creating a service wall memorial that will be located in the lobby area of the Crivitz Middle/High School. We would like to include the names of all individuals who have attended school in the Crivitz School District and served, or are serving, in a branch of the military. If you know of anyone who fits this criteria, please click on the article title/heading to provide the necessary information to include them on this memorial wall.

November 10, 2025 (official letter date)

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the process used in making the decision of whether or not to close or delay the start of school due to inclement weather. It is also to provide you with a reminder of the importance of having a family plan in dealing with such delays or closings.

If school is delayed or canceled due to weather conditions it will be noticed on local radio and T.V. stations as well as the District website. If you have an email and a phone number on file with the District, you will also be contacted via email and phone call. If you would like to receive a text notification, please text “YES” to the number 67587. Please ensure that the phone number on file with the District is your current phone number, as this is the number by which you will be contacted.

Every effort is made to have the decision to delay or close school made as early as possible. Sometimes the decision to close or delay school is made very easy due to the severity and timing of the weather. Other times it is much more difficult. In making the determination, I awake at 4:00 a.m. and get in my vehicle to drive area roads in an effort to determine the driving conditions. Near 4:30 a.m. I make calls to other local superintendents, the District Building, Grounds & Transportation Director, bus drivers and county/township highway shops to gain further information necessary in making the determination as to whether to close or delay school.

Conditions in different areas of the District can vary greatly. We have no way of knowing which roads will be plowed or unplowed. If you are in a location of unplowed roads (usually dead ends or private) and school will be in session, you may wish to drive your children, or have them walk if the distance is not too great, to the nearest plowed road for bus pick up.

A few unplowed roads in the rural areas do not always warrant a school delay or cancellation. If weather and road conditions are reasonably questionable to you as a parent, you may choose to keep your child(ren) home and the District will honor the absence as “excused” with a written note from the parent. Working parents should have plans for childcare if the need should arise to delay, cancel or dismiss school early. Please make arrangements so that your child(ren) can access the home if school is dismissed early due to a rapid change in weather conditions. If you have any questions regarding this information, please feel free to contact the schools or the District Office.

Respectfully,

Kelly J Robinson, District Administrator
