Rick Wakeman's piano solo, 90s tour
Here is one of the all time greatest progressive rock keyboardists playing one of his signature piano solos. He strings together several melodies from his solo recordings, along with some improvisation. Wakeman really shows off both his compositional skills, as well as his incredible musicianship. 2:40 is where he really gets crazy!

Children's March, by Percy Grainger
Another staple of wind band literature, by master composer, Percy Grainger. Children's March is one of those "cute" band pieces that gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Just below the surface of the melody, you can hear a lot of complex harmonic moments, various counter melodies and other suble tricks that Grainger uses to make a simple melody come to life.

Hymn for the Lost and the Living, by Eric Ewazen
Starting with an off stage trumpet solo, Hymn for the Lost and the Living is something of an elegy, tribute and a mix of hope, in musical form, written by Eric Ewazen after the events of 9/11. It is now considered a staple of wind band literature. I still remember performing this in college.

Stairway to Heaven, by Heart
Here is the iconic rock tune, Stairway to Heaven, by Led Zeppelin, being covered by the group Heart. This is from the Kennedy Center Honors, a yearly event where various artists are honored for their achievements. The Kennedy Center is in Washington DC, and the band and choir visited it back in 2016! This version, is absoltely incredible. It actually gives me chills!

Here's a video of the Pat Metheny group, featuring Lyle Mays, a jazz pianist who is from Wausaukee! He won multiple Grammy awards with the group and as a solo artist.
