Classroom Expectations:

Science class will be following the course outline and expectations listed below, using science curriculum for Science 7 and 8, following the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) & Wisconsin Standards for Science, which can be found posted in each science Google classroom, Mr. Graves’ Crivitz School District - teacher website, and online.

  1. Google Classroom will be used for communication with students and posting all curriculum correlating with following NGSS and Wisconsin Standards for Science. 
    1. Stream Tab - used for posting all science related announcements, test outlines, and weekly lessons/work to be completed; posted every Monday morning
    2. Classwork Tab - used for posting projects, labs, daily assignments, class material, etc..
  2. Skyward will be used for grading - both students and parents must check routinely
    1. Grades will be converted from both Google Classroom and Amplify to Skyward. It is encouraged that both students and parents access Skyward for the most accurate measure of progress/grades. Skyward can be found on the Crivitz School District home page under “Resources - Student Resources,” then select “Skyward Student Access.”
  3. Grading
    1. Grades are updated regularly within 1-3 days after every assignment is completed and turned in. (Exceptions: major projects/tests that may take a longer time to properly assess)
    2. All assessments will be determined by the total number of points in each weighted category listed below, out of 100%, to assess student understanding as we explore science topics:
      1. Participation (20%)
        1. Be an ENGAGED learner - actively be engaged in learning by participating in class discussion/questioning/activities, following the pace set by the teacher, and staying on task
        2. RESPECT - show respect to yourself, others, school property, and follow directions when instructed. Appropriate behavior and what is expected will be clearly explained. Science classes follow all expectations as stated in the Crivitz High School/Middle School Student Handbook
        3. RESPONSIBILITY - bring required materials to class every day, including a writing utensil, and having your chromebook charged ahead of time
      2. Assignments (20%)
        1. Reading/writing assignments, student investigation workbook, etc. (formative assessments) 
      3. Projects (30%)
        1. Poster or Google Slide research projects, lab reports, lab activities, science fair projects, etc. (formative & summative assessments) 
      4. Tests (30%)
        1. Tests, quizzes, formal/verbal presentations (summative assessments)
