EXPIRED 2019 Wireless Infrastructure Upgrade Project

  • Are the new access points replacing access points that are currently in classrooms?

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 2/6/2019 2:45:00 PM

No, the entire current wireless infrastructure: access points, cabling, swtiches, etc. are staying as is and will not be changed or modified. Bidders should consider this a project a "new" installation regardless of the existing equipment/installation.

  • Under Materials/Equipment Requirement, you have requested for (2) MS-225-24 switches. Are their additional PoE switches at the school(s). If yes, could share the quantity and make/model?

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/31/2019 11:30:00 AM
We do currently have some PoE switches in our wiring closets. Existing switch interfaces will be used to accommodate the additional access points except for the two requested switches that will be installed in the wiring closets that will not have enough interfaces. Currently, we have some of the following throughout our MDFs and IDFs:

    • 3 - HP 2530-24
    • 4 - Cisco Meraki MS220-24P
    • 1 - HP 2920-48G
    • 1 - Cisco WS-C4510R+E

  • Our entity provides a site survey as a billable charge, is the district willing to pay for it?

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/28/2019 11:30:00 AM

The district will not be paying for the pre-installation site survey. If there is a billable charge for the post-installation site survey, this must be noted and must appear as a separate line item on the bid.

  • Looking at the RFP, you would like a site survey that shows coverage proposed, can we do this as a Predictive survey?

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/28/2019 10:15:00 AM

Unfortunately, the district is not seeking, requiring, or desiring a predictive survey. A current coverage survey is required to provide a "before and after" snapshop of coverage before the project takes place; in addition to show how the coverage looks after the project is completed. This is requested to show the proposed equipment is meeting expectations.

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/28/2019 10:15:00 AM

Patch cords should be included [in the bid] that connect the access point to the surface mount box. Patch cords from the patch panel to the switches [in the wiring closet areas] are not to be included in the bid. The district will purchase those patch cables directly.

  • At the access point locations, is a category 6a jack and surface mounted box preferred over an RJ45 plug being placed on the end of the cable?

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/28/2019 10:15:00 AM

Vendors are required to bid the project ensuring a CAT6A jack and surface mount box are installed in all AP locations.

  • 1:1 Device Question

Posted by Nicholas Schramm on 1/11/2019 10:45:00 AM

Although we are currently not a 1:1 district (each student does not have a device provided by the district), 1:1 is a future goal. The majority of our mobile devices consist of carts that are transported between rooms or areas of the buildings.
